Dr Roberts,

I’m publishing your comment for the sake of transparency and because I’d like to address your specific points:

1) I am a parent, thereby qualifying me to talk about my experience as a parent.
2) In addition to being a parent (which I think is qualification enough), I have extensive experience of working with children and coming into contact with other parents. My views on parenting are, therefore, made up of my own personal experiences and the practices which I have seen other parents use (either successfully or not!).
2) At no point whatsoever does this site position itself as a substitute to or in competition with other professionals in the field of parenting. As explained at the top of the front page AND every page of this site (I don't think it can be any more explicit than that), all our articles and posts are our personal opinion.
3) We do as much research as possible and write in as objective a fashion as possible, but do so from the point of view of our own experiences. If you were to go through the site, you will see many references to further reading and additional resources. You will also find plenty of links to other "bodies of information" that are considered authorities on their subject matter and we encourage our readers to gather as much information as they wish in formulating their own views and practices.
4) The spelling of practicing Vs practising is not as clear cut as you think... and it comes down to whether you adopt the American or British version of the spelling. It’s a big debate and not one I want to get into here. Personally, for the function of this site I simply accept both forms as being correct. This isn’t a site dedicated to etymology, but the experience of parenting.

So, to surmise, this site is a free resource, generously put together to provide helpful and useful information to the parenting community. With that in mind, I ask myself "what is it about this type of honest service that upsets you"? I am reminded of the quote: “you can’t please all the people all the time”. How true.

PS - Strange that you would post such a comment to this particular article.

What are your qualifications to comment on parenting or child development and health? It seems to me you have nothing to support the information supplied on this website. Shouldn't advice regarding children's health come from qualified professionals? Where health is concerned there is little room for unsupported the opinions of non-professionals. Also if you refer to the verb form of the noun to practice as indicated by the suffix -ing you the correct spelling is practising.
